Fort Lauderdale, FL (September 20, 2023) - The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS), renowned as the world's premier boating event, is once again raising the bar by embracing sustainability and innovation as its foundational pillars for the highly anticipated 2023 edition, slated to take place October 25-29th in downtown Fort Lauderdale.
"FLIBS 2023 is not just a boat show; it's a dynamic platform for change and innovation. It's a testament to the commitment of the marine industry to embrace sustainability and preserve our oceans for future generations," said Andrew Doole, President of U.S. Boat Shows at Informa Markets, the producer of the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. "In setting these standards, we're not only leading the way in conservation efforts but also highlighting the vital importance of aligning these elements with the future of event production. FLIBS remains unwavering in its commitment to steer the marine industry toward a new era of environmental responsibility.”
Unveiling an array of groundbreaking sustainability initiatives, FLIBS is poised to make a significant impact in reducing its ecological footprint and spearheading a positive transformation within the industry. The extensive range of sustainability features will include:
A notable addition to this year's show is the MRH Innovation & Sustainability Award, presented in collaboration with the Marine Research Hub. This award is dedicated to acknowledging organizations that have demonstrated exemplary commitment and innovation in promoting sustainability across various sectors. Whether it's in the areas of environmental conservation, renewable energy, social impact, ecoconscious products, sustainable practices, or community-driven initiatives, FLIBS is seeking to honor the most impactful and forward-thinking efforts.
As part of its commitment to educating and inspiring attendees, the show partners with leading conservation organizations to host interactive seminars and workshops led by experts in boating, conservation, and fishing. Industry leaders, including the Marine Research Hub, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Officers, and the Ocean Rescue Alliance, oversee these sessions. Additionally, the Hook the Future Kids Fishing Clinic, hosted by Captain Don Dingman, educates young boating enthusiasts on the significance of early engagement with sustainable practices.
“The marine industry’s commitment to innovation and sustainability is key in preserving our largest asset, our coastal and marine environments,” said Phil Purcell, CEO/President of the MIASF, who owns the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. “The opportunity to protect our ocean health is the key to supporting a thriving blue economy with innovative companies providing jobs and building businesses here in Fort Lauderdale, the Yachting Capital of the World.”
Owned by the Marine Industries Association of South Florida (MIASF) and produced by Informa Markets, FLIBS will span seven iconic locations throughout Fort Lauderdale. For further details about the 64th annual Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, please visit www.flibs.com.
